  2. yes it is sure but it will take some time the question in front of us now is how it is going to be implemented as mamata Banrji n sum othr MLC's said that only upper class mey b benefited frm it.I wud lik to put forward some issue regarding how our male dominated system reacts to it.

  3. I believe we are going to see more remote controlled 'Rabri devis', with the remote in the hands of their husbands or brothers. I do not expect anything phenomenal. Its politics after all.

  4. Change the face of politics ..I dont think so, now the leaders who are not able to contest will make their spouse or sister or any women relative for that matter stand in place of them and they will be like puppet in their hands they will campaign for them an use the same methods as in divide in the name of religion caste to win votes and they will play all the cards .

  5. Change the face of politics...well i dnt think just by passing a bill is going to change much..not many women will be keen on joining politics..Even if a women joins politics they will be directly or indirectly be related to a male politician..and they will serve as puppets
and nothing more..Even if a women does joins a politics and attempts to have make a +ve impact..these politicians wit their famous tactics will overshadow her!!

So it doesnt really matter ...Instead of passing a women reservation bill our govt shld concentrate their energies on the betterment of women!!

  6. Let us not get very cynical with his bill. The women reservation has been implemented in the panchayati raj long back. As per a survey conducted by panchayati raj ministry in 2008,the reservations have led to a greater confidence and increased number of women participation in rural areas.

  7. Hi Guys,

A very generic observation. Please do not, at the very beginning of the GD, decide whether there is going to be a change or not. That decision should come in at the end of the GD.

Will give more gyan a bit later.

  8. Friends we shouil also notice as we had RABRI DEVI ,we even have Pratibha Patil and Sonia Gandhi as successful politicians. So it may happen that the reservation scenerio may change bring a change by giving birth 2 more such politicians without any remote controls.

  9. Yes Richa, you get the good as well as the bad from anything. Its is for us to take the right one. There is Rabri Devi, Sonia Gandhi, Sushma Swaraj or Brinda Patil. Who is the one without power now? So what I say is that the puppets won't last long. According to the survey conducted by Panchayati Raj, it was found that the women ruled regions witnessed an upliftment of the total society from the very aam aadmi rather than building bridges and roads. Also there has been a slight decrease in the corruption and bribery factors. The decision to rotate the seats is also a good move as monopolist needs of anyone can be avoided and the women from each region gets a chance to prove herself. Those who opposed the bill where unsuccessfully playing a trick when they thought that the bill can be defeated if the OBC(Muslim) reservation makes a controversy, avoiding the major opposition party, the BJP from voting for the bill. The claim that says that the ladies would not be effective is baseless, as every major political party has got its women's wing to look its social issues of their importance. They should be given the right opportunity to prove their potential.

  10. The passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha has brought forward some interesting scenarios for the Indian polity. This struggle for political rights by women’s groups has been the longest in the history of independent India as the proposed constitution amendment bill had been deferred several times by successive governments since 1996.

While the Indian constitution is one of the most progressive in the world and guarantees equal rights for men and women, Indian women have always waited anxiously for their equal dreams to be translated into reality.

Bias against women and girls is reflected in the demographic ratio of 933 females for every 1,000 males. Also, 1 in 5 women dies during childbirth, and such deaths account for more than 20 percent of the global maternal deaths. As far as political participation of women is concerned, the Lok Sabha elections in 2009 was the only time when women candidates witnessed a 10 percent participation in parliament.

i think this is best step that governmentof india had took.. abhishek yadav
