Group Discussion - Current Affairs

Aloha Guys,

Time for another GD. There seems to be a lot happening in the world around us these days. Unfortunately. So the topic of discussion for today is also on current affairs.

The topic is:

India is a soft state that does not have the political will to combat terrorism.

Looking forward to a lively GD.

Ciao

  1. India has strong will but the political leaders are unable to trace where the actual problem lies...and how terrorists are moving in public with RDX....insipe of heavy security in public places...

  2. too much of decentralisation have always caused problems...in india, the security measures however tight might limit to a few places and not all over the country. The system has enough loopholes to let in terrorists to breed here...and combined with the soft attitude taken towards terrorist activites, the most proper term would be india lacks the iron hand in the velvet glove that it wears always...

  3. India always had problems dealing with terror attacks and the recent incidence in Pune adds one more to its list. The problem lies wherein the political parties in India fight among one other instead of finding a solution to combat terror attacks once and for all. India has the will but the political parties are more concerned about their votebank instead of providing security for the country.
lets not play the blame game for the sake of our courtry and stand united to tackle this menace.

  4. What I feel is -the problem with India is that a one time event is not sufficient for us to wake up and do something. After one 9/11,America made sure that no one dare put them into the same situation again. But India keeps on saying that WE ARE READY TO TACKLE ATTACKS LIKE 26/11.Why can't we just say INDIA WILL NO MORE HAVE ATTACKS LIKE 26/11?
And not to forget the blame game.....(we are famous for it)

  5. Since British Raaj days we have a tendency to bow down before others. Earlier it was UK, and now the almighty US. Has anybody ever seen Israel do that. No! They are the lone people who fight for themselves all alone.
Every time India is attached, our govt (who so evr is in the power) starts screaming that this would not be tolerated again. Then it starts looking WESTWARD for sympathy. After several rounds of assurances and political visits and revisits, a lucrative package to fight against terrorism is announced for neighbours. Then it starts shouting again.
India has been attached so many times. Do we just keep a record of the dates, 26/11, 7/11, 13/12.. I hope the list ends here itself!!

  6. I'm agree with shilpa. Our leadr just say we r redy 2face terrorism. But hw?No one knows the answer.Everytime they alert states but after happening of such event.P.C said that IT'S NOT FAILURE OF ATS,PEOPLE CUM WID BAGS IN HAND SO ITS NOT POSSIBLE TO DETECT O CHECK EACH BAG.IT is FAILURE of ATS,o our detectiv agency.Goverment is totaly responsible for it.People Elect them not to giv comment lik P.C but for developement n for security.

  7. I completely disagree with the point....Its not only government or Security forces responsiblity to take responsiblity of our security.

Unlike Israel ,India is a state with uncountable divides, where you have only jews in israel.People can just divide themselves on anything over here in India.

In such condition security forces for various state / varrious purposes viz... RAW, Intelligence bureau , ATS ,Mumbai Police all need to co ordinate themselves for proper operation.
In case you need to imagine their plight in coordinating amongst themselves try organising a college event with student from five diff branches of your college.

And imagine how cooperative you would be to with our protectors in case they wished to frisk you or your bag....
everytime i have heard people at malls, station
"I am not a terrorrist, why you checking me" ??

and will the terrorist come with a writing on his forehead...."I am a terrorist".

This is the mentality we need to change and this is the answer....If all of us can just do our basic share our responsiblity...give a scan in buses/train/public places for unidentified luggage....submit ourselves for frisking at malls.
we just need to follow the basic instructions thar are being issued by Home ministry/security forces.

We never take note of their success, do we applaud them for averting major terrorr attack plans or catchin a consignment of RDX and other explosives....NO!!! Then why just blame them.

The better part of this continous attacks are that at least these attacks, after taking its toll on lives and property (which is the bad part) brings us indians together in time of grief.gives our political patrons topic to make speeches on how India wont fall...how we indians will stand together rather than diffrentiating between indians on caste, religion, state etc. etc..

  8. I have answer to anand on my view,he is also talking like P.C,terrorist come with a writing on his forehead...."I am a terrorist".
Then what is need to have intelignc buro and they get paid for what?
As u said forehead point y u dnt try to undstnd dat if specialize forces cnt identify terrorist then hw common man can?
N plz check Goverment awards they do getawards for brevary n its their duty to kip wach on such things so one cnt se averting major terrorr attack plans or catchin a consignment of RDX....

  9. they are doing their job, ofcourse we proud of them nut its lik lik that if they catch RDX onc ten there wil b no such case in future.

  10. I agree with Tanya...what she said about bowing our head infront of US for help is absolutely correct,Each time we are attacked we want others states to have sympathy with us.instead of this we should get united, there is so much diversion among the leaders that nothing is possible without unity.
Which ever state is attacked we start abusing the ministry over there and these ministers they get CHANCE to have a supper duper debate.Like in mumbai attack...it is an unforgettable history where MR.Chavan said"badi badi shehro mei chhoti chhoti batein hoti hain"....why the hell did he tell this. And finally appologised saying didnt know its meaning....then why to comment???Instead he should have concentrated on his duty to the nation.
and yes India is a soft state and because of its softness anyone is successful in making it crumble down...

  11. India is a soft state regarding any kind of attack and it has to be explained on the sidelines of the non-violent tradition it has followed after its Independence. It should be said that our country was forced to go war against Pakistan and China in the previous decades. And we had very powerful leaders at that time and a less tense environment without nuclear weapons in our neighbours hands. These days India give more importance to diplomatic tricks of globally isolating our enemies rather than going for war with a nuclear power and wasting crores of money and thousands of people. Moreover such a step could seriously affect our economic growth and allow China to take a bigger lead. It is thus because our leaders have actually realized this Chinese trick of pushing the terrorists from Pak to our country to make us spend our money on it, that we don't take weapon always when we are provoked. But rather we use a better trick of globally isolating such countries. Its nothing about power, political will or pride. But its about the clever way of playing it.

  12. ok...if its a clever way of playing it then are we really successful???...the answer is a big no..n China is already leading ahead of us.and until n unless government increases its spending on arms and weapons ,i don't think we will be able to combat wars or terrorism.we will have be like ever-ready batteries,in order to give big goose bumps to terrorism or rather say teerorists.

  13. Well my friend Richa, the vehicle which carries terrorism may be Pak, but the steering wheel is in the hands on the crooked Chinese. We'll understand this on a deeper analysis. And this is why we are not able to eradicate or atleast find a proper solution for combatting terrorism after all these 4 decades since its birth. We need to realize the real culprits here and its the Chinese. They were able to overtake us in GDP growth only because they played with this weapon called 'terrorism' with a Paki mask all these years and we were mistaking the Pakis as the real culprits until this decade. Else, why on earth did they shared the nuclear technology with Pakistan, even knowing that its the home of terrorists. And we can't go on war against either of these countries as we three are countries having nuclear weapons and a war could possibly mean the end of world at this point. And its our diplomatic intelligence that enabled us to isolate China even upto a certain extent, with the help of US on the Taiwan arms deal issue and the Dalai Lama US visit issue. An open war would have been a solution if it was some 5 decades back. But now in this era of nuclear race, its a closed chapter.

  14. I agree to what u say about terrorism but its not that, only acting as abackbone for Pakistan that china has moved ahead of us in terms of gdp, there are several other factors too responsible for it.And i would like to say that why we people are helping CHINA to earn revenue from us by using their home products,if we really want to isolate CHINA then the government should bann their products being imported in INDIA and once again we should move towards boycott movement..

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think we r diverting from our topic. Our topic is abt india n its policies abt terrorism n nt china or boycot movmnt.

  16. friends sorry 4 diversion.....even i felt that china is out of the context...

  17. i agree in india politicians r looking at their own profit rather than the welfare of the people they r only interested in holding to their chair for the next 5 years rather thinking wat they can do to help others in years in which they r in power
