Let’s take a look at homophones. Homophones are words pronounced the same as another but differing in meaning, whether spelled the same way or not, e.g. heir and air. The root words in homophone are from Greek: homos "same” + phone "sound".
A few homophones are:
Tocsin – An alarm bell or a warning signal.
Toxin – Any poison produced by an organism. Ricin and snake venom are examples of plant and animal toxins respectively.
Annalist – A historian, especially a chronicler of yearly events.
Analyst – A person who analyzes or who is skilled in analysis (analysis is a method of studying the nature of something or of determining its essential features and their relations).
Bight – A bend in a coastline; also the body of water along such a curve or The curved part or the middle of a rope (as contrasted with the ends).
Byte – Adjacent bits, usually eight, processed by a computer as a unit.
Copse – A thicket of small trees, bushes, shrubs, etc. especially one grown for periodic cutting.
Corpse – A dead body, especially the dead body of a human.
Bourn – A destination or goal or A boundary or limit.
Born – Brought forth by birth or Possessing from birth a particular quality: a born musician; a born fool or Native to the locale stated: an Indian-born scientist.
